Does the Free Will really exist, or it's just a facade.

Yes free will exist. Yes human has control on his actions.

In the universe you are living in, there is no free will. But "free will", as a concept, has immense power. It has powers beyond imagination - at a cosmic level - and let me try to explain why I say this at a slight length, should you have patience to read on...

Let's look at this scientifically. We live in an 11 dimensional cosmos (Superstring Theory suggests 10 spatial dimensions and 1 dimension of time, and mathematics of it allows the total number of dimensions to be up to 11, beyond which the multiverses become unstable and collapse onto the 11th dimension... for a primer, refer to this site). Now what are these dimensions? We are physically aware of the 3 dimensions - of length, breadth and depth. We can "remember" the 4th dimension - the dimension of time - as everything that have happened. (We do not "remember" the future - we can only hope & dream - and it is slightly related to the "free will" which will become apparent by the time you reach the end of this article.) Beyond this, from the 5th to the 10th dimensions - all possible universes - infinite in number - are "allowed" to exist. These can be universes where an elephant can fly, and a human can breathe under water or earth never had any life on it - to put very very simple "impossibles" from our world into the realm of possibility that may manifest in another parallel universe. There can be universes with all sorts of different initial conditions and different physical rules - even speed of light being something else (the speed of light is one of the universal constants!).

So how does this link with "free will"? See, in our universe, if you imagine objectively, you can plot the world history using the 4 dimensions of spacetime. This is possible, because we remember only 1 timeline - "that what has happened". It is a mathematically sound model that the "events" of the universe are all plotted already, and our consciousness travels along that plot moving along the arrow of time. The consciousness can reflect back on the path of travel that it has already traversed, but never on the path that is yet to be exposed to it. This keeps happening all the time, as we live our lives. If I have to illustrate, "when I hit the ball, it flew in that direction" - that's all I remember. So "plotting the history" has only 1 possibility for us - the plot-series along which our consciousness had flown - nothing else. (Those who are more knowledgeable, please do not mix quantum uncertainty with this - because that collapses once rolled up to observable level.)

But it could have happened that when the ball was mid-flight, it would have hit a flying drone, and changed direction. That may as well be the "actual world history" in another parallel universe. To understand parallel world histories, let's imagine it in a very simple way - every time there is a possibility of different results or different decisions, each such result or decision can be the "reality" is one of the parallel universes. And as you can imagine, we are talking about every single event happening across the universe - so we are talking about infinite events, which can proliferate into infinitely more number of possibilities... and that process continuing to repeat across infinitely lengthy history of the universe.... and each such parallel universe's ability to again generate such infinite proliferations, and thus infinite universes. The proliferations would look something like a chain reaction, but just infinitely more dense.

So the power of your free will? You came from your home to this shop... and while coming, you turned right in the first crossroads. The moment you turned right, you created 3 other universes - 1 in which you had exercised your free will and had turned left, one in which you had turned back, one in which you didn't turn and moved on straight. Your "free will" created 3 new universes - and you weren't even aware of it! Maybe in that one where you moved on straight, you found a box full of diamonds on the roadside, and now you are a billionaire there! Who knows! wink

Brilliant explanation. A bit dazed. will revisit this discussion again in few days. :-)
