And a chapter of the Uttara Kanda of the Ramayana describes how Rama blessed Vibhishana with immortality right before Rama departed the Earth: He then said to Vibhishana the king of Rakshasas: As long as people shall breathe, O Vibhishana, O highly powerful lord of Rakshasas, thou shalt preserve thy body in Lanka. But my question is, when and how did Vibhishana step down as king of Lanka? Vibhishana is obviously not ruling Sri Lanka today, so what caused him to stop ruling it?

Our scriptures terms many person as immortal but immorality is against the law of nature. Hirnakasyap was denied immorality. He was allowed to tell how he wants or don’t want to get killed and ultimately he was killed.

Bhagwan Krishna said in Geeta that anyone who is born will die.

In my opinion bodies of following 4 are still exist in universe.

    1. Rahu

    2. Ketu

    3. Trishanku

    4. Ashvthama

There is one common factor among these is that the bodies of all fours were thrown in the space and a body will not decompose in space only.

"Immortality is against the law of nature" is a limited view. As long as people breathe - may as well mean till next pralaya, when all "people" will cease from breathing. Chiranjeevi does not mean equal to Narayana - but it is an honor in an earthly context.

There are 8 of them on earth, till end of Kaliyuga.

There are more in other lokas.
