If you differentiate between Kaams and Sambhog, then Kaama (excessive or obsessive sex) has no positive while Sambhog is necessity and pleasure

The word "Kama" in general contest means desire or longing. The longing could be for anything, for some luxury or a piece of jewelry. But in this context I guess you mean  sexual desires. It is the most positive thing in the world. It is the basis of creation.

In Kamasutra, Vatsayana celebrates sex and it's importance.

In what context kama is negative?

The fire that burns the whole forest can be kept tamed within the wick of a candle.

The society tries to do the same taming to the raw emotion of kama. Most of the time it works, sometimes it does not. It is just as per the Bell curve - there are always outliers.

But nature had created it for a purpose. Nature's purposes are always positive. Creation through destruction - all are positive.
