We hear many times that idols of Gods should face East or West or South , North in different temples or home too.

Why is it so?

I know some people follow it in their temples and/or homes but there is no such hard and fast rule. Many temples have Murtees placed in half circle. There is a rule to place Sun Deity always facing East.
