Saama Chakeba is a Hindu festival, originating from the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. It is a festival of unity. It is celebrated in November and commences when birds begin their migration from the Himalayas down towards the plains of India. 

Mythological significance: It tells the story of Sama, a daughter of Krishna who had been falsely accused of wrongdoing. Her father punished her by turning her into a bird, but the love and sacrifice of her brother Chakeva eventually allowed her to regain human form

छठ पूजा के समापन के पश्चात मिथिला में एक और त्योहार शुरू होता है "सामा चकेबा"। इस त्योहार को मनाने के लिए विवाहिताऐं लौट कर अपने मायके में आती है। दिन भर मिट्टी से साम, चकेवा, चुगला व अन्य प्रतिमांए बनाई जाती है और शाम होते ही पूरे मिथिला में लोकगीत गुंजने लगता है।
